The Record (Bergen County, NJ) is looking for a dynamic, innovative editor to lead its Better Living section.  The Director of Features will be responsible for the overall production of the features sections for The Record and Herald News. The director will also share the responsibility for the creation of original content for NorthJersey.com.  The director will have overall responsibility for managing the features staff and for crafting feature sections that will attract a diverse and sizable audience to two different newspapers which serve different communities and have different missions. Flexibility, creativity and the ability to solve problems are essential attributes in this position. The successful candidate will demonstrate an ability to create content tailored to a sophisticated audience deeply interested in food and dining, health and fitness, shopping and film, travel and day trips, art and theater, as well as music and entertainment. The content produced by this editor must satisfy readers’ desire to live better in North Jersey. In addition, the successful candidate will possess the following skills, attributes and experience: Strong communication skills (written and verbal); Strong organizational skills; Customer and market focused; Results driven; Decisiveness; Demonstrated success in leading and managing people; Operational and strategic planning skill; Team-building and people management skills.  The editor must work closely with our graphics department for flawless presentation of well-planned pages. The position requires close communication with corporate IT, digital and Internet teams to support the launch of new products and features including mobile, apps and advanced functionality.
