WTSN-AM & WBYY-FM, local independently owned radio stations, are seeking a self-motivated, energetic, and experienced sales person.  The successful candidate must have 1-2 years of sales experience, be a strong communicator, self starter and be able to work independently. Prior experience includes working directly with clients, demonstrated collaboration and negotiation skills, and a proven track record of meeting and exceeding sales quotas. Specific goals and activities will include:  Identifying, prospecting, and closing key accounts.  Consistently meeting or exceeding sales goals and demonstrating focused sales efforts.  Generating and qualifying leads through cold calling. Overcoming objections and ability to provide recommendations to upsell and enhance advertising opportunities.  Utilizing a strong knowledge of the client base to develop high-level relationships. Attending face-to-face meetings with current and prospective clients. Working collaboratively with traffic,!
production, announcers and sales team. Maintains professional and technical knowledge by reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; benchmarking competitive practices; and participating in professional societies. Candidate must have reliable automobile, valid driver’s license and familiarity with the area. Knowledge of Word, Excel and Outlook. Preferred but not required: Knowledge of broadcast advertising and sales industries and a bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, or a related field.

Position: General Sales Manager

This person hires and supervises the sales staff, reviews programming for the best sales opportunities, develops sales plans and goals, oversees billing, studies and understands the station’s market and approves all sales promotion campaigns. Some stations have multiple levels of sales managers, including National, Regional and Local sales managers who focus on various aspects of sales.

WTSN-AM & WBYY-FM, local independently owned radio stations are seeking a Director of Sales.  Sales Management experience in commercial radio (3 to 5 years preferred).  Candidate must possess impeccable leadership skills, an effective communicator and contagious enthusiasm for both the product and selling ideas which will work for our clients.  Digital Sales experience is a plus.  Creativity and aggressive problem solving are important traits for the position.  Four year degree preferred.

Must be able to operate (or learn to operate) weather & radar computer systems. Minimum 5+ years experience as a Meteorologist in a medium to large market preferred. Experience as a news anchor is a plus. Candidate must be a team player with strong interpersonal, written and oral communication skills. Must also work well under deadline pressure and able to work weekends. Strong computer and Internet/web skills necessary. Basic editing and producing skills preferred.

TRAFFIC DIRECTOR  (Full-Time Regular)

Duties include management and training of the Traffic Department and every aspect of the Wide Orbit Traffic System.  Input and assign copy rotation as per client request; create formats, inventory codes and log editing templates; proficient in dub and purge procedures.  Work closely with Sales Reps and Management in controlling inventory to maximize avails and revenue.  Strong computer skills a must.  Working knowledge of Wide Orbit.  5+ years of Broadcast Traffic experience and College degree strongly preferred.

ASSOCIATE PRODUCER  (Full-Time Regular)

We are searching for a creative writer for our programs. Ideal candidate should have some newscast producing experience and will fill-in produce during vacations and sick calls. Must be able to write packages, VO’s and VO/SOT’s quickly and under deadline pressure.  Must have a working knowledge of TV newsroom computer systems and lingo. Must be familiar with how feeds operate and how editing equipment (linear and non-linear) works. College graduate and at least 1-4 years experience as a writer or newscast producer in a medium to large sized market. Internet skills a must.

Maintenance Technician  (Full-Time Regular)

Operate, install and maintain all types of broadcast studio and engineering equipment in new SD/HD digital facility. Must be knowledgeable of networked computer systems. Work week will include most weekends.  At least 5 years experience in maintaining all types of broadcast equipment. Completion of electronics technical school required.

AAJA member Al Young interviewed legendary Hollywood actor James Hong at the 2011 Boston Asian American Film Festival feature “Spotlight” event Friday night (11/11/11) at MIT in Cambridge.

Hong, perhaps the most recognizable Asian American character in the world, talked about his remarkable acting career that has spanned nearly 60 years and includes more than 500 feature film and television roles. After the event, Hong, in Boston shooting the movie “R.I.P.D,” starring Jeff Bridges, Kevin Bacon, and Ryan Reynolds, chatted and signed autographs for the attendees. The next night, Hong and Young joined the BAAFF’s “wrap dinner” at the Jade Garden Restaurant in Boston’s Chinatown, which included the film festival’s committee members and filmmakers.
